Unique Problem?

Hello,

I have SSH access on one server (the server I am importing to) and not the other. I would like to do a vB3.5x - vB3.5x import. However, I don't want anything except the users, posts, and threads. Can you please give me a step-by-step instruction on how to do this? Also, for some reason I can't run my imported .sql backup file in phpMyAdmin - it always times out.

After you move your database to the new server you will need to install a new vB into a new database, then use impex to import your old data.

Please be aware that importing vB to vB is not a normal process to move data, and it still requires doing all of the normal moving server steps.

This requires Telnet or SSH access to both servers.

If you expect to receive SSH access from your host, I'd wait and use that.
If not, you can use a software like mysqldumper

If you only want to transfer those, then I recommend you use ImpEx to import that data into a new instance of vBulletin.

If you can allow remote access to one of the servers you can use ImpEx remotely on the server that won't allow remote access.
