    Mass Email

I have 7 email address that are no good.( They bounce back). Looking in the members list shows no such member with that email address. 1. Where is that address kept?. 2 How can I delete it? Every time I send a mass email they come back/they are not members.

    Thanks Jose'

Search for those email addresses in the Admin CP, not the memberlist.

HOW DO YOU DELETE EMAIL ADDRESS THAT ARE BOUNCING BACK.

THEY ARE EMAIL ADDRESS THAT ARE PART OF admin cp/users/send email to users list.

YET THEY ARE NOT REGISTERED AS A MEMBER .WHEN YOU
ADMIN CP/USERS/SEARCH FOR USERS, AND ENTER THAT EMAIL ADDRESS, IT COMES UP NOT FOUND.?

SO! WHERE ARE THE ADDRESS THAT ARE BOUNCING BACK? i WANT TO DELETE THEM. i'AM GUESSING THAT A MEMBER CHANGE THERE EMAIL ADDRESS AND THEY DID NOT GET DELETED, OR THE ADDRESS THEY ENTERED THE FIRST TIME WAS NO GOOD? i DON'T KNOW!. aLL i KNOW IS EVERY TIME i SEND EMAILS TO MY MEMBERS, I GET 6 OR 7 RETURNED UNDELIVERABLE.(NO GOOD)

First of all if you ever post in ALL CAPS again you will go on my Ignore list. Consider this a friendly warning.

Second what you have posted does not make any sense. You would not get a bounced email from an address that doesn't exist in your vB database. So ewither your characterization of the problem is wrong, or you have not fully checked the existing email addresses and/or this is not a vB-related email. What you are describing does not happen with the original vB code.

                Ok

1st of all................I did not know that caps meant anything

2nd. I bought 1 year support for my vb. And this is the third time I have had to ask the same question, there must be a better way to get straight answers.( this is a friendly responce)
3rd when I go to users/send email to users/and send a notice they all go out fine. then in 2 min. or less i get returned mail. for my board.

When i go to admin/user/send email to users/Search Criteria/and enter the returned email address. It does not come up!. So Why is my board sending these email. if they are not on my board or a user????

All caps are considered to be shouting thats why Steve took offence.

The returned mail will be from the mail server and not from the user, it depends purely on if the mail server returns original email. Did you try just searching from the mail server domain. Ie. [email protected] then search blah.com in the email part of the admincp.

As I said this would not happen with the poorifginal vB code. I'm not sure what more I can tell you. vB doesn't just randomly make up email addreses on it's own.

You are either not explaining this right, the bounce messages are from another application or you have installed a hack or plugin that is affecting this.

The emails are most likely from the mail server Steve.

I get emails from [email protected] or whoever the domain owner, the original email is usually mentioned elsewhere in the email when it says who it was bounced for.

Most likely the e-mail address that vb is sending to is set to forward e-mails to a third address, and that address is bouncing them back - we get this a lot on our forum.

If you study all the text in the bounce message you can usually locate the original address that vb sent the mail to.

                            Quess What!!

When I was searching the returned email address in admin cp.( under users.) I would enter the email and was clicking the find button to the right and just above the empty white entry box...........This find button is !!only!! for finding by user name. You must page way down below the email address box and hit that find button at the bottom right to find by email.
This explains why I could not find these email address. I have now found them. The board was sending them.
                            .
PS. Should place this button next to the entry box you are working with for less confusion? Maybe on 3.6.0 this can be done!!!!
                            Thanks

                            Jose
