I seen vBulletin Lite 1.0.1 for download at some other site, but i'm not sure if i should download it. because i don't know if thats a free version or not. Please replay.

While it was free at the time people should still not provide it for download.

Why would anyone want vBulletin Lite? I used it and it's not very good. It's was created to see if vBulletin worked on their site because at the time PHP and MySQL wasn't common.

While we're on the subject did vBulletin 1 use a templating system?

It's been a year or more since I used vBulletin Lite but I believe there wasn't even a system so people can register but I'm sure it can be hacked in.

From what I read here before.. It's illegal to distribute or download vB lite, but if you have it already you can use it as you were bound to the terms when you downloaded it. I'm not sure why anyone would use it. It was made to test if vBulletin could be run on a persons webserver, nothing more.

vBulletin 1.x is no longer made, supported and comes with security issues.
