I have took a short look into hi5.com and it looks interesting. As vbulletin seems to take an eye about programming a cms, maybe it would also be interesting to improve the forum software into a more personal forum software. It would be nice if users could make friends each other and then see special personal related information in the user profile view of their friends. That would be a very easy integration I think, but users would feel more like home if they can decide who's allowed to read private information and who is not. So users could post pictures of themselves and let them just look by special friends. Programming would not be as complex as developing a whole new cms or other systems. Forum owners like it if users come more often and they do if they have friends there. Now users can just communicate via Private Messages. So, anyway ... maybe the developers are just thinking about that at this moment

Like in hi5.com it would be nice to see - if you are invited by a person - all his friends (maybe with some more information like photos of these persons).
I really think it's quite easy to implement this idea by just putting few more tables into database structure but would greatly enhance the vbulletin feeling. vbulletin would be ahead of all competition ... Then vbulletin will be more like a realistic forum where not everyone just speaks in front of all, but there are hidden groups that discuss private and making friends ...Comment

Part of what you say is already possible .
There are already public groups and with a little tweaking you can make restricted forums based on that group and so on.

There is sooo much potential for vbulletin to establish new communities where people do not only talk in front of each others or just face-to-face by private messages, but also in small groups that also can connect to other groups ....Comment

Seriously though, I always wondered what the point of a buddy list was without adding on to it. As it is, it simply puts a + sign next to the user's name in Who's Online, and nothing more, right?Comment

vBulletin needs to stop thinking 'forums' and start thinking 'communities'.Comment

There were always open places for discussions, but also places where groups keep talking more private ...
This time there's only a open forum for all and two-face-discussions in private messages, which is not enough.Comment

by djkjproHi,
I suggest building an option so admin can see all private messages that are sent by users to other users, and also another option that the admin can turn on is to receive a copy of each...-
