Maximum thread length

I just a question about how long a thread can be with vbulletin. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I'm not sure where this would fit in.

Currently I have a thread on my site with close to 40,000 posts in it. I'm worried that because of its size, that it might screw up vbulletin. Any one got any ideas on the limits of vb?

BTW, has anyone seen any other forums with threads this large? this one has been going for years on my site.

The realistic limit on a thread i whatever hardware you have backing it. It takes alot of math processing to figure out how many posts there are on a page, and how many pages there are, and etc.

I'd say anything above 10k is pushing it.

I don't see why would you have a limit...
At least, on vBulletin you do not.

I have one that is approaching 10k soon. I may have to lock it in case my host starts to complain.

It's going to be a long time - it's taken a few years to get to 130k

Not recommended. Large threads would crash the php process while splitting/merging.
