Multiple Thread Subscription Emails for Some Users

We've just recently upgraded to vb3.0.1. It appears that a number of our members have neen receiving multiple emails for new post notifications. Some members were getting two emails, some have reported 4 or 5. One confirmed that the emails were identical (same poster, message, date, etc). The other will be checking when the next occurance arrives. I wanted to see how this could be happening and how I could solve this. I tried searching on subscription, but with the new subscription payment system, it was hard to weed out the correct threads

I checked the subscribethread table and couldn't find any multiple subscriptions for the users in question. Could this be related to knowing if an email was sent out? I'm not quite sure how the email is setup, but I know x amount are done in batches. If this is set as a cron job I could see the script running again while the old batches still had to be going out, so they were getting processed multiple times? Just a thought.

I really don't know if that has anything to do with this or not. Set the email batch number to a higher number and see if this fixes the problem.

Could you tell me where I set the batch number higher? I checked vboptions and only saw the option to turn it on or off.

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Server Settings and Optimization Options -> Number of Emails to Send Per Batch

Thanks. I updated this to about 25 in a batch vs. 10, but the same issues are ocurring. Here's an example:

A member just posted that he received the following emails from the boards. The duplicates are bolded:

The duplicate emails also contained the same content (ie. refer to the same post). What could cause this to occur?

Is is possible this is a glitch related to php's mail function or sendmail or could this be an issue with the batch system?

This is a server issue. Unfortunately beyond that I really don't know how to troubleshoot it.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Can you give us more info on this issue so we can come up with a fix or work around?

I am facing the same problem. Unfortunatelly, I am not sure when exactly it started happening, so I can't say if it was after a vB upgrade or not.

Trying to figure this out with my server people, but I do not know what information to give them.

Could this be a php issue? Are you (in vBulletin) aware of any such issue?

I need to have this issue resolved, and I have no clue where to look for the solution.

One solution that you can try now is to disable the Mailqueue in the vB Options.

I appreciate your response, thanks very much. I did the changes suggested and I'll see what happens.

Steve, if you memory serves me right, I think I already have opened such a thread for this issue, where I was just told that "This is a server issue" or something similar again. And my thread was back in March, while it is clear that the issue was known to vB since February.

Quite discouraging I dare say!

Yep, you're right. It's one of those things that is very rare, of course, otherwise our forums would be overwhelmed with reports of this.

This is happening to me as well. I have reports from some of my members of my own forum (quadraphonicquad.com), and at another forum that I belong to, the stevehoffman.tv/forums I am receiving multiple emails about threads myself.

In fact, what prompted me to check in here was that I just received 4 emails from SH, all about the same post!

Something odd is happening.
