Let's say you have a forum full of posts on one vB, but then you want to move that forum (with posts) to another vB on a different server/site... is this possible, and if so, how complicated is it?
How easy is it to move a forum from one vB to another vB?

Currently it's not possible, primarily because it's a very difficult thing to do (duplicate userids, threadids, etc.) . I know that others have requested a hack for this over at vbulletin.org, but noone has written one that I know of.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

however if you mean moving your forum over to a new host using only your data backup on the new server/host then you need to follow the guide at http://vbulletin.com/manual/movingservers.html:: Always Back Up Forum Database + Attachments BEFORE upgrading !

What about simply moving my registered users from one server to a new server with a clean install of vBulletin? Why isn't this possible guys? In my searching of your forum here tonight I see that several people are asking for this feature, so demand is there. Why can we not have this? Considering how efficient your UBB import script was, how difficult would it be to write a script that simply moves my nearly 5,000 registered users to a clean vBulletin without making all of them register again?

I has been mentioned someone is working on the importer now. Believe it or not the demand for this has only been a fairly recent phenomena.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)
