    vB equivilent for iB ssi.php

    Hi peeps!
    I recently upgraded to vB, and was wondering if there is an equivilent for
    ssi.php ? I used it on the main page to shot the latest news, and it had
    other features, like people online etc...
    include("http://www.frahneng.com/lanx/forum/s...?a=news&show=5");
    this would return just the top 5 news post titles.
    include("http://www.frahneng.com/lanx/forum/si.php?a=active");
    This would show amount of posts, and how many people are active etc.

    any ideas? or am i installing another... "hack"

      Doh! Will you have something similar in vb3? Sorry, am
      a bit new to this Also, i liked iB's Admin CP, are there
      going to be many changes to vB's ACP to make it a bit
      easier to use, like changing forum positions etc. Don't
      get me wrong, vB makes me all warm and fuzzy, it's just
      that there are a lot of interesting hack and ideas that
      when incorporated and tested by default would make
      vB more awesome

        vBulletin 3 includes a file called external.php which creates an RSS based output of the latest threads that can be incorporated into other pages and programs like php-nuke and Trillian.

        Hmm. The Admin Control Panel has been completely redone in vBulletin 3.0 and there are pictures in the vB3 suggestions and feedback forum. However editing the order of forums is actually quite easy in vBulletin 2.X, simply change the display order on the Modify Forum page and click submit. All forums will automatically re-arrange themselves.

              there is also a JavaScript version and a XML version.

              Default is RSS, you are able to turn off each type via the admin control panel. here only RSS is enabled.

                Yeah kinda, but I'm used to drop down boxes. You have the category's
                and forums. If you have 4 categories, you could have drop down boxes
                from 1-4 to arange the categories, and the same for the forums inside
                the categories. Instread of having text boxes there. Ya know, stuff

                  I think you missed the question.

                  Say i have a few files like ad.php i want to include into vb3. In vb2 i had to hack, is it possible to include this file and run it in the style. For instance, this file might have some php coding in it.

                    Not sure exactly what you want to do but can't you use phpinclude to do this?
