It would be nice to be able to change your vote in a poll

I'm runnig a contest where people vote in a poll for their favorite picture. Some have already voted when not all the pictures have been submitted. Would it be difficult to change the way a poll works so that a member can change their vote as often as they like.

I must be blind. Could you post exactly where that switch is. I did a search for poll and in admin cp > options and could not find it.

That is for thread ratings not polls.

    Thanks Wayne.

Could you look into how difficult it would be to allow users to change their vote.

I am not a developer so couldn't rightly say. This suggestion will be reviewed and added in a future version if they decide to.

I had that hacked into ver 2.3.0, but noone ever used it.
If it 'has' to be hacked back in, I'm not going to mess with it.
No more that it might be used on my board, it isn't worth the effort.
Even if I had one person a month change, it's not that hard for them to pm me,
and for me to change it.

Technically, this is not a difficult task, because the public polls already keep track of all votes.

I cast my vote for the ability for the users to be able to change their vote. Maybe it could be a control panel setting: "allow users to change their votes".

Of course, users should not be able to change their votes in closed polls even with that option enabled.

I disagree that this should be a Control Panel Setting. That makes it too global. I think it should be an option that is set for each individual Poll when they are created. I also think that Admins should be able to toggle this setting on a Poll that has already been created.

I vote putting the ability on usergrup permissions to change votes, also allow this to be a poll by poll option like ocean suggested. Might be worth making the ability to create polls where users can change votes a per usergroup permission.

I think this is a great suggestion. Today I stumbled upon this issue on my own site. We have some polls there where people might change their minds on the subject involved, but there's no way they can change their vote on the poll.

i agree we should have this function too.
User able to change vote instead or rather require mod/admin of forum to do the change +1 to this and -1 to that.

    It should be very useful.
