    dotcomtoolbar

    GRR!!!

This thing is honking me off big time.

It started with a popup thanking me for installing Dot Com Toolbar.
Now my homepage is set to http://www.findthewebsiteyouneed.com/
    There are popups everywhere.

I delete cookies, empty the cache and reset the home page yet still this thing is back when I reboot.

Media Player is gone and in it's place is the icon for a generic VB application (you know, the form icon) which reinstalls this carp.

How do I get rid of this thing?

    Some people suggest hijackthis

    Is that any good?
    Sig? What sig?

Odd enough, but sometimes there is an uninstall option in add/remove so you may want to check there as well. If not then use Ad-Adaware

Yes, there is an uninstall option.
The trouble is, it keeps getting reinstalled again.

Did you try deleting "wmplayer.exe" since it's bad?

Once you unistall it, check your startup files to see if there is anything strange in there as well.

    Get spybot search and destroy:

Make sure you update the program and change the settings to your needs.

    dotcomtoolbar

I was able to get rid of the toolbar by uninstalling it. Now, every time I do a search from the address bar it gives me a GiantExplorer search page which says dotcomtoolbar in the address bar. I've tried changing it by going to the Customize Search Settings but it wont go away.

Does anyone know how I can get my autosearch back to something other than GiantExplorer or dotcomtoolbar? I have windows XP.
