    Well....(?)

Ok I'm looking for a new web host. I currently have http://www.valvenetwork.com as my web host. They used to be awesome, now they're support is lacking. I need a new host, I thought about http://www.canhost.com but they only have 10gb for the Unlimited Package (which is what I had before I switched to Valvenetwork). I'm debating about going back to them, but I don't remember if they had Telnet acess (which is what I really could use...that and phpMyAdmin)...I hear VenturesOnline is pretty good, but do they allow Telnet access? What about phpMyAdmin OR someway that I can create my own MySQL databases? I don't know how much space is good, I have "unlimited" however that's not true, from what I hear anyway, although I've never had any problems with space thus far.

What do YOU guys recommend? I dont' know what a good space limit is (but I like big numbers ) and I dont' know what a good monthly transfer is (but I like big numbers ) Suggestions please...Thanks!

VenturesOnline are quite good and they have both SSH (=secure telnet) and phpMyAdmin.
And you are right, unlimited is not good for you nor the host.

I see....but is 20GB/month any good at all? I mean, what's the average transfer rate per month for a normal board? And for VenturesOnline, I'm looking at the "V500" plan....What does "MySQL connections=45" mean?

That means that at any instant, you can only have 45 open mysql connections.

keep in mind that almost all scripts will close a connection once it is no longer needed for the page that is being asked for....

Every host has to limit the SQL connections - remember, you are not the only one on the shared server
