Thread: Promoting threads in forums to articles automatically

Post Promoting threads in forums to articles automatically

I've searched trough my admin CP and the front page, but I couldn't find this. Is it somehow possible to promote topics in certain forums to articles (in a specific section, of course) automatically when posted? For example, I have a 'Weird news' forum, and I want to have a section in the CMS for the same kind of news. It would be nice if I could promote all topics in the forum section to articles without having to promote them each individually. I know this might create double content, but is it possible to do right now?

Likewise, is it possible to make all articles in certain categories show up as topics in a certain part of the forum as well (so only for specific categories, not for all articles together)?

    Thanks for any help.

No, forum posts can only be promoted to articles when the button is pressed.

Haven't looked at creating an RSS feed for a particular section yet. This may be possible though to pull articles through as threads.

EDIT: Just created a feed for a section on my forum OK.

1 - If you're going to upgrade your live site - BACKUP YOUR DATABASE FIRST!!
2 - If you need to restore an old database - create a new one and restore to there

TEST IT FIRST! See this article on how to setup a test site

Can you do a step-by-step on the process for setting that up, Trevor?

    Thanks.

    - Copy the link from the RSS feed icon in your section then add it to the RSS Feed Manager in AdminCP:

Where do you set the RSS Feed Manager to publish to CMS? It seems you can only publish to forums.

Ah, okay, thanks. Is there any chance this might be added later on?
