WYSIWYG not working right in Firefox 3.

We're almost ready to upgrade to VB 3.7 from our current 3.6.8, but not quite. In testing with the final release of FF3 I found some major show stoppers on the WYSIWYG editor, some of which still exist on vB 3.7 as well.

    1. On the post editor (WYSIWYG) on vB 3.6.8 you do not get a cursor anywhere, which makes it suprisingly difficult to compose/edit a post. This problem seems fixed on vB 3.7.

    2. The keyboard shortcut keys (Home, End etc) do not function. This problem seems to be fixed on vB 3.7.

    3. The buttons to Bold, add links, add Code tags etc don't work right. This does *not* work right under 3.7, though the symptoms differ. In 3.6.8 you can highlight text to work with, and clicking the button brings up a dialog (if appropriate) but no changes are made to the actual text. In 3.7 pretty much all the formatting and link buttons don't do anything at all.

Now this might be somewhat localized to our site, but I've had members contact me yesterday and today to tell me that the post editor is broken in thier FF3, so the Browser side of the problem is *not* local.

Is this part of the later upgrades to the 3.6x series and P1 for 3.7? I'm not seeing the problem here...

Thx for any assistance you can provide!

same here! I hope there's a fix SOON for this, as half my site uses firefox.

Posting with FF3 / Windows XP now.
    1. I see the cute little cursor as I type now.
    2. Home, end, tab... all seem to work fine.
    3. This is bold, link to this post, code... all seem to work fine.
    Code:
    code here
Do you have these problems with the default style too?

I knew it worked here on vB (as Dilbert could probably have seen if he read though my whole post ), but since I didn't see much other response I assumed it was probably not something native to vB that was causing it. Did some checking with some friends that also run vB and verified that.

Ended up runing all the main scripts (pages) though http://validator.w3.org/ to find any tag problems (mostly caused by faulty html in advertising scripts, obnoxious that you're not allowed to fix their code) and after they were straightened out the editor started working. I think it's just a case of FF3 being more careful in how it parses the html that FF2 or IE. All is running well now.

I am also getting this issue...

all my main script pages validate fine yet I have no cursor, no focus and no functionality at all from quick reply.

It's not dodgy ad code either because ads are not enabled for staff....

Has anyone found a fix or know why this is happening?

I've been using FF3 since the release and I've posted dozens of things on vbulletin and haven't noticed anything wrong.

Ok, this is VERY weird. I have some small changes made to showthread but nothing with any relation to this..... my quickreply templates are 100% stock. My regular reply page functions exactly as desired.

Would anyone be prepared to help me troubleshoot this on my site? It driving me nuts.

I have this problem on profiles: on the comments tab (using WYSYWYG editor):

When I open a user profile, I can write there (into the comments tab).. but if I switch to another tab and then I return to the comments one, I get this (only in Firefox 3):

I've noticed no problems in FF 3 with the Editor on this board, vb.org, or my own board.

    that'd be because the problem isn't with vb 3.7+ it's with 3.6-.....

someone please provide a fix for this so I don't have to upgrade to 3.7... I have way too many hacks installed to go through that nightmare.

The problem is on your website.

I'm having the exact same problem too. No blinking cursor in my wysiwig editor which is confusing visitors. Any chance of a fix?

What are you people talking about?

Are you talking about the vertical flashing line that shows where you are in the editor box?

Can you make me a video with a hypercam showing what you mean, because again, I see no problem with this on either computer I own on FF 3. Maybe I don't see the error.

What doesn't seem to work for some reason beyond me is in Safari the Switch Editor Mode Button does not appear. I don't understand why, but that issue I'm sure is for another thread.

Yes, in the main message box on the WYSIWYG interface the vertical line doesn't show, you can type but editing etc is a nightmare because you have no idea where the cursor is.

Try your FF3 in this thread http://www.newtotown.ie/forum/feedback/site-feedback-367.html - try typing in the Quick Reply box
