Problem Here -- What is this?

I receive this error and I cannot upgrade....

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/username/public_html/forum/includes/config.php on line 30

    What do I do?

Line 30 of the config file is the name of your database. You apparently do not have it correct. Check that first.

Well I never did find what was wrong, so I just did what every other noob coder programmer does, I copied and pasted my old config.php file on to the new one.

Hopefully, things work out like they did.

Board is upgraded, installed and I'm now reverting to ensure 100% functionality.
thanks for helping me, but I'm a noob programmer

Possibly you had an extra space in there somewhere which was screwing up the read. You need a text editor which will show "white spaces" to avoid such issues. TextPad is one such editor.

The format of the line is incorrect, not necessarily your database name. What is that exact line in your config.php file?
