Urgent help needed to restore forum

I backed up my forum before upgrading but then made the fatal error of not turning off the forum before continuing with uploading the latest files.

I can now no longer access my forum at all and need some guidance on how to reinstate the backed up version.

If anyone can help an idiot I would appreciate it.

Please bear in mind that this idiot is not a vbulletin wizz, pretty obvious really.

    Thanks.

I don't think that not turning off the forum is fatal, I think the reason for this is so that users cannot access the forum to post (or do anything else) whilst you are upgrading. Nothing worse than users joining up or posting only to find they have disappeared!

Just follow the upgrade script as Steve Machol has suggested, and copy and print off the old config.php file, I do believe this may come in handy

I have to say that upgrading my forums scares the hell out of me!

Thanks for the replies but I did run the upgrade only to be presented with a screen full of text.

I hope this makes sense to someone because I haven't a clue as to what to do next.

This means that the files were not uploaded correctly. Reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server.
