After installation, are these configurations needed?

    Hello,
I recently installed vBulletin, and edited the config using this page:
    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/editconfig

About midway, there is this message:
"The remaining variables in config.php do not need to be edited in order to make a working vBulletin configuration. For most, it is recommended that you do not alter them until after the installation process is complete, unless you are confident that you know what you are doing beforehand. A description of these remaining variables follows."

Are any of the configurations below that message required at all to ever change? I just went through them and didn't see any that worked with what I have or nothing that I thought was required. Right now, I installed vBulletin, and that is it. I am in the process of import all kinds of posts and whatnot off my other forum. My question is, do I need to edit the config.php before I do anything else? If so, what and why? If not, will I ever be required to edit it again?

    Thanks
    Pat

They are advanced configuration modules. You may never need to change any of them.

Hi Wayne, I reckon that this config.php is the one file that catches loads of users out, especially on upgrades, or using vbadvanced.

Is it probably a good idea to compare the old version versus new version to determine what needs to be changed?

If I had known this a few weeks ago it would have saved a lot of hassle over one particular weekend!

Unless specifically specified in the upgrade instructions you can usually use the config.php from your previous version with no changes. There are few exceptions to this.

    1) The config.php in 2.X is not compatible with 3.0 or higher.
    2) The config.php in 3.0.X is not compatible with 3.5 or higher.
