    vBulletin 3.6.0 Released

    vBulletin 3.6.0

The vBulletin team is proud to present vBulletin 3.6.0 Gold.

vBulletin 3.6.0 is now our stable, fully supported version, superseding both 3.0.x and 3.5.x. While we will continue to support 3.0.x and 3.5.x with security and critical bug fixes, these lines are no longer in active development.

Many visitors to this forum will have been keeping tabs on the 3.6 beta and release-candidate versions that have been available for the past several weeks and will be familiar with what is new and improved in vBulletin 3.6. For those who have not seen what you can expect, there is a thread available here for your benefit.

    What is a 'Gold' Version?

The term 'gold' in software terms has nothing to do with the color of the application. It refers to the practise of burning the final version of software to a gold CD-R in preparation for the manufacture of CDs for sale and distribution to customers, and is used to indicate that the code is finished. The official name of this new version is vBulletin 3.6.0.

    PHP and MySQL Requirements

Please note that vBulletin 3.6.0 requires at least PHP 4.3.3 and MySQL 4.0.16 or later.

    Installing or Upgrading vBulletin

Please see the appropriate manual sections: Installing vBulletin and Upgrading vBulletin.

    Template Changes

Many templates have changed since 3.5.x in order to accommodate new features. As a result, you will need to revert several templates or some areas of your board will not function.

    Bug Reports

You may report bugs by clicking here. Before reporting a bug, please attempt to recreate the bug on a default, uncustomized style (especially if your errors are JavaScript related). Additionally, if you have used the plugins/products system at all, please attempt to recreate the issue with the plugins system disabled!

    Template Changes Since 3.6.0 RC3

These are the template changes since 3.6.0 RC3 ONLY

If you are not running 3.6.0 RC 3 yet, there are significantly more changed templates than are listed here. Use "Find Updated Templates" to find the templates that have changed and incorporate those changes. You may even wish to start with a default style!

    Note:

You need to only look through this post for templates you have customized. You do not need to take any action to ensure that your uncustomized templates are the latest versions.

If you find a template you have customized in this list, you will likely want to include the changes made here. However, this is not always required. Under each change listed here, you will see "requires revert?" This refers to whether the changes are mandatory (yes). If the changes are mandatory, things will break if you do not incorporate the changes made. It is strongly recommended that you revert and recustomize any templates that say they require a revert.

Additionally, you may wish to use the "Find Updated Template" feature in the control panel to find templates that have been changed since your last edit to them.

    pm_newpm

Changed phrase 'may_send_x_messages_a_time' to 'may_send_to_x_people' for more accurate language.

Requires revert? Yes (the old phrase no longer exists)

    userinfraction_infobit

Added a conditional so that infractions of hard deleted posts will display N/A instead of nothing for the post title.

    Requires Revert? No
    postbit_external

Removed HTML comments due to ODEO not parsing them properly.

    Requires Revert? No

    userinfraction

Added class="bginput" to three <input type="text" /> fields that were missing it.

    Requires revert? No

    editpost
    modifysignature
    newpoll
    newreply
    newthread
    pm_newpm
    postbit_quickedit
    userinfraction

Changed all instances of accesskey="p" to accesskey="r".

Requires revert? Not really, though IE7 users can no longer use alt-p for previewing forms.

    navbar
    SHOWTHREAD
    STANDARD_ERROR
    STANDARD_ERROR_LITE
    STANDARD_ERROR_LOGIN

    Removed accesskey="p" completely

    Requires revert? No.

Did anyone notice that we also released 3.5.5, 3.0.15 and 2.3.10 at the same time as 3.6.0?
