Placing the title of each thread in <h1> tags

I think this would be a big benifit to help us rank better in the search engines.

Would you please consider having the script place each threads title in <h1> tags but reduce the font size to maybe 3 or 4?

    Can this be done?

    Thank you,

    Greg

The benefits of placing the title in a <h1> tag are not that great. However, it's extremely easy to do this with CSS anyway. I reduced the breadcrumb section of navbar down to 4/5 lines (most being conditionals) doing it.

Here's a good article on <h> tags and how they are read by Google... Interesting read.

    To quote...

"... Google and other search engines like to see header (h1, h2 and h3) tags on pages. This helps search engines determine the context of a page. They arent required, but any help you can give them is good. It also helps adsense determine the context of a page and helps deliver more relevant ads..."

Just do it with templates. Wouldn't you rather do it yourself than have every board, including those you compete against, have the same SEO as you? That wouldn't really help you would it...

I really would like to do this because I know how much the <h> tags have helped my homepage's rankings.

I have basically no knowledge of doing this.
Could someone show me how to do this step by step? Or I would be happy to pay for it.

I like this suggestion. The <h1>-tag could be easily formatted with CSS and it would be a step towards accessibilty, although the forum display is really cluttered, when browsing it with lynx for example, but thats another story and another suggestion of me.
