Tampering with vBulletin Copyright in footer.

What kind of a stand does vBulletin take on those administrators who edit/modify/delete information in the footer that states:

    Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.8
    Copyright ©2000 - 2007, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
Is it a big deal? Does anyone care? Should the forums be reported?

    Thanks!

It is, UNLESS they have a branded licence. They also can take off the "Version 3.6.8", But the rest must remain intack.

      If I understand it correctly.

      You can remove the:
      Powered by vBulletin version 3.x.x

      But to remove the:
      Copyright ©2000 - 2007, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.

you need to purchase the branding free.

The minimum (According to vB staff) is:
        Powered by vBulletin®, Copyright © 2000 - {2}, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
I believe thats the correct code to include the current year.

We do care, it is not permitted to remove the copyright notice. Or rebrand it. If you know a forum that does this and you suspect they should be checked by our staff, add their url here: http://www.vBulletin.com/piracy.php and we will take a look.

Actually, this is not correct. The product name vBulletin has to be included.

Yes, the {2} is for the year,
and this is the MINIMUM required footer.

            I thought the minimum was

            vBulletin®, Copyright © 2000 - {2}, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
            Did it change?

Floris, would you please take a look at my forum's footer and tell me whether the copyright notice is valid or not?

That's fine. It's easily readable, and has the min. required copyright listed.

Powered by: <==== is not required, but preferred.

                        The smallest possible copyright is:

Without the reserved after "vBulletin"? Odd.

I agree, people should just leave it alone. I don't see how it harms your forum? even addons from vborg have footer copyright info.

Thanks for confirming. When I moved mine I thought I had checked here (vB.com) first but this thread made me start doubting myself.

It doesn't cause any 'harm' but rather is usually an aesthetic issue, especially for people with custom styles. Often a custom style will group all of the various copyrights & notices together in a particular spot on the design and, in some cases, it's just a matter of trying to cut down the clutter.
