Avatar Imageinfo Failed: Upload Error

When I am trying to upload an Avatar or profile picture I get an error saying:

Imageinfo Failed:

That's it...there isn't anything after the colon. I've made sure that the Image Settings are set to use GD. Under GD version it shows: Detected GD Version
2.0.28

I tried upgrading to v.3.5.4, but that didn't help. What else should I check?

You definitely should not get the 'Imageinfo Failed' error unless you are using ImageMagick. That is where that error comes from.

I'm pretty sure it's set to use GD. I attached a screen shot of my Image Settings. Anything else I should change?

If you have not installed any plugins or hacks (which includes portals), fill out a support ticket at:

Be sure to include the login info to your Admin CP, phpMyAdmin and FTP. Please also include a complete description of the problem.

I just tried to assign an Avatar by using a URL and it gives me this error instead:

Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file.

Do you think I have a permissions issue?

That's an entirely different issue. What happens when you try the Upload diagnostics?

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Upload

Enable phpinfo in the Admin CP, then provide the URL to your forums. This may help us troubleshoot this problem.

Upload Diagnostics gives me this message:

PHP's open_basedir setting has been set to .:/hsphere/local/home/ryanlove:/usr/local/lib/php. The uploaded file was stored outside of this directory and is not readable. You will need to contact your host and ask them to specify upload_tmp_dir with a directory inside .:/hsphere/local/home/ryanlove:/usr/local/lib/php. Note that PHP must be able to read and write to this directory.

You have open_basedir restrictions on your server. To get uploads to work you need to create a 'tmp' subdirectory under your main directory and chmod it to 777. Then in the Admin CP set "Upload In Safe Mode?" to 'Yes' and point the "Safe Mode Temp Directory" to that directory. If you placed the tmp directory in the right place, the path to the Safe Mode Temp Directory will be:

/hsphere/local/home/ryanlove/tmp

It's the same problem

Hi, I've the same problem. I'm not an expert but I think that is a problem caused by an incorrect installation:

I've placed all the forum's files in the main directory (forum.audirsclub.it )

The error message is this:

Warning: getimagesize(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/cache/php/phprWUDwt) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/sites/forum.audirsclub.it) in /includes/class_image.php on line 1615

Can you link to your phpinfo please?
You'll most likely have to set the safe mode directory correctly.

It's the same a past-copy?

In your vBulletin Options, turn on public phpinfo viewing, and then link to your forum.

safe mode is on (local value)
safe mode is off (master value)
