  • I wish to report terms of service abuse...

There is a Resident Evil forum which consists of abusive members who submit vile remarks and horrific images displaying rape and explicit gore. Some of their comments are particularly offensive to the gay community. I have warned them over this as it is against the rules, but they refuse to listen. Very recently, the admin placed some adverts on the board at the top beneath the banner. One of the adverts leads to pornographic content and some of the members are under 13 years of age. He even made a poll asking the members what advert was their favourite, at which point they said they liked the one with the pornographic content the most. Please investigate this. Sometimes the advert does not appear as it is on a rotation.

    From the License Agreement:

The Software may not be used for anything that would represent or is associated with an Intellectual Property violation, including, but not limited to, engaging in any activity that infringes or misappropriates the intellectual property rights of others, including copyrights, trademarks, service marks, trade secrets, software piracy, and patents held by individuals, corporations, or other entities.
That doesn't cover porn. LOTS of adult sites use vBulletin as their forum software.

What about everything else they've been doing? The terms of service says that offensive posts or harassing members is against the rules.

Unless they are violating the License Agreement, you'd have to take it up with their webhost.

Where does the TOS say that people can't post harassing/offensive posts? Granted, a lot of sites may have that in their site rules, but that has nothing to do with vBulletin or Jelsoft.

By the way, I had a section on an Invision Power site for posting pictures of people (non-nudity of course) and they said that wasn't allowed. I really do advise you to investigate that site as some of their posts are very inappropriate. Can I have a copy of the license agreement please?

I posted the only section of the license agreement that refers to site content.

We are not the internet police, if you find that site offensive the best I can do for you is to stay away, and report the site to your local athuorties if you believe they are breaking any laws and contact their webhost.

I've actually had a lot of bother with people from other forums for over 2 years. It all started with this guy called Marco who is infact a popular vBulletin customer. Anyway, they made vile posts about me, as well as a deceased member of my family and then they stalked me, phoned my house and sent me threatening e-mails. I don't think leaving this mess alone is going to endear me to like that decision.

Again, that's for you to take up with your local authorities/their local authorities and has nothing to do with vBulletin or Jelsoft.

How do I do that? They are not from Scotland so how are they going to get arrested? I've been through this in the past. Cyberbullying must go ignored if nobody cares about my sincere statement. I also do not like pornographic images being placed on sites for young people. I admit, I can stay away from these idiots, but why let them away with it? I think the license agreement should be updated.

I don't know who hosts those sites. I'm not their bloody agents. It just said the forum was powered by this lazy company that obviously do nothing about abusive members. Perhaps I'll squander £300 on a site and put similar content up just for kicks and we'll see if I get away with it. Look for a banned member called Grace Saunders. That was me. I got banned by Marco's buddy Floris back for making a complaint then and I keep note of such antics.

That is not our site. We do not run it, host it, or control it in anyway. That is simply one of thousands of sites that is using our vBulletin software. As long as they do not violate the license agreement, there is nothing we can do. You can view the license agreement here:

                              http://www.vbulletin.com/order/license_agreement.php

If you wish to make a complaint, you will need to contact the webmaster of that site and/or their web hosting company.
