    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '='

    Hi;
    I have just transferred my existing forum to a new server, with a different hosting company. The old server was a Windows VPS and I logged on to the server and zipped the entire httpdocs folder for the Forum. I then transferred this to my local machine and used a FTP client to transfer the folder structure to the new server.

    I have tried both binary and ascii transfer.

    When I try view the forum I receive following error messages:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '=' in C:\Inetpub\vhosts\clickalifecoach.com\subdomains\forum\httpdocs\global.php(563) : eval()'d code on line 7

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '=' in C:\Inetpub\vhosts\clickalifecoach.com\subdomains\forum\httpdocs\global.php(564) : eval()'d code on line 38

    this goes on

    Does anyone know how to solve this?

    Thanks

    Try disabling your modifications/plugins and see if you still have this problem.
    Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit includes/config.php and add this line right under <?php

    PHP Code:
    define('DISABLE_HOOKS'true);

    If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

      Thanks for the response, but unfortunately this does not change anything, I still have the same problem.

      I have inserted the line just above the first comment section in the file, directly under the <?php

        Are you using a totally default style?

        Create a new style with no parent:
        • Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Add New Style
        • Parent Style: No Parent Style
        • Title: Default vBulletin
        • Allow User Selection: Yes
        • Save

        Then browse the site using that totally default vbulletin style - do you still have the same problem?

            Eval() are from modifications. To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

            Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

            [Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

            Next, disable all products (except vB Blog and vB CMS if you are running the Suite.)

            Admin CP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Disable

            Then manually uncheck all plugins that are not for 'vBulletin Blog' and vBulletin CMS' here:

            Admin CP -> Plugins & Products -> Plugin Manager

            You must do BOTH of those steps in order to disable all non vBulletin Modifications.

            Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

            You cannot get that error if you follow all those instructions.
