    Difference between thread and post

Help me if you will. What is the difference between a thread and a post? Can VBulletin be set so that users can start a new forum? While we are there, what is the difference between a thread and a forum?

I know this may be elementary, but I don't know, and I would like to know..

    Thanks

No, members cannot start a new forum.
You setup the forums when you setup vBulletin from the start. They will be your "areas" or "topic groups".

Threads are the beginning of a topic of discussion in a forum or subforum, or the first post. Every post in reply to the original post is part of that thread, even though they are separate posts.

Members can start a new thread (new topic) in a forum.
You don't start a post, you post in a thread.

You started a new thread and I posted a post in your thread.

    Does that make sense?

It makes good sense, and I appreciate your trouble in explaining. Thanks..
