  • adding a thank you, or reputation button

    I am helping set up a forum site with a friend, we have it set up and almost ready to start using, but I would like to set up something like I have seen on other v bulletin forums, a thank you button or Reputation button

    I have a picture here of what I want to add.

    I am also going to need some guidance on adding a flash chat link, or function.

    Any info will be great, thank you
    Branden

    There is already a reputation button in the postbit if you have reputation enabled:

    You can modify the postbit to move the button and change the image if you want:

    Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> -> Postbit Templates -> postbit or postbit_legacy (depending on which layout you are using)

      Great, but what about adding
      the flash chat?

        The navbar is a convenient place to add links. See this thread.

          Thank you, I had planned to put the link there, but is the "flash chat"
          a third party software or a add on that I can purchase from v-bulletin?
          A site that I would like to model my flash chat feature from is
          www.ftatalk.com/chat/flashchat.php

          It uses your log on from the site to enter which I also like, that way it will keep out spammers and bots. Also the mods, admin, and supermods have the ability to ban, boot, and kick out people.

          Again thank you

            That is a 3rd party addon, but it integrates with vBulletin. I think you can find that addon on www.vbulletin.org.

                This is the code for the reputation image link:

                Code:
                		<if condition="$show['reputationlink']">
                			<span id="reputationmenu_$post[postid]"><a href="reputation.php?$session[sessionurl]p=$post[postid]" rel="nofollow" id="reputation_$post[postid]"><img class="inlineimg" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/reputation.gif" alt="<phrase 1="$post[username]">$vbphrase[add_to_xs_reputation]</phrase>" border="0" /></a></span>
                			<if condition="$show['popups']"><script type="text/javascript"> vbrep_register("$post[postid]")</script></if>
                		</if>
                You can modify / move this code to change the link. For example, you can change "reputation.gif" to name a different image in the "images/buttons" directory.

                    What is the problem you are having? Is there an error message or is something not working as it should? Make sure you are viewing the same style that you are editing. You can view a style by clicking its name in your Style Manager.

                        Ok I have completely created a new test style, with no parent style, so this is a default styling... and still no reputation... Im gonna post the entire html here and If you can see what the problem is I would love to know. Also the rep manager is set up and is edited and all there and working from what I can tell......

                          Is your usergroup allowed to use reputation?

                          Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit Usergroup -> Can Use Reputation

                          Is the reputation system enabled?

                          Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> User Reputation Options -> Enable User Reputation system
