    Rebuilding Bitfields?

    Hi. How are you? I'm a 2 week vBulletin newbie.

    How would I go about rebuilding bitfields?

    Can someone give me a step by step? I did search for 'bitfield' on this forum, and someone suggested using the tools.php in the do not upload folder... er.... I'm confused? Sorry!

    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

      In your ACP (Admin Control Panel) Open the VB Options Menu on the left (at the top) and its in that menu....you click the link, and it'll run the script

          you have to be in the debug mod for this! then you see in the settings a link rebuild bitfields ( /index.php?do=buildbitfields )

          bitfuils are also rebuild, after importing a product!

              Add this to config.php to enter into debug mode:

              Under:

              <?php

              Add this line:

              $config['Misc']['debug'] = 1;

                Just to avoid any confusion of anyone reading this Thread, "Rebuilding Bitfields" is now handled in the tools.php file.

                To "rebuild bitfields," you run [Bitfield Cache] from tools.php, which you can upload from the do_not_upload folder of the vBulletin package into the AdminCP folder. It "update[s] the bitfields cache from the xml/bitfields_???.xml files found in the /includes/xml/ folder.

                MAKE SURE TO DELETE tools.php AFTER YOU FINISH!!! You won't be able to get back into the AdminCP, itself, with the tools.php file in there.

                Regards,

                    Sorry to bump an old thread, but I hate seeing bad, risky, confusing, or poorly defined information in response to a simple request.

                    The simple and straightforward solution is to modify the above link, log in to ACP, then follow my link in your browser. Done in 5 seconds (safely and easily).
