Forum Empty After Upgrading from 3 to 5...

Hi,

I am trying to upgrade from v3.8 to v5.1.

I followed the step:

Important: If you are upgrading from vBulletin 3 or 4, backup your existing files and delete the files off your server before proceeding. vBulletin 5 needs to be installed in an empty directory. Do not delete your attachments, customavatar, customprofilepic, or signaturepics folders.

And then uploaded the files and edited the 2 config files properly.

I then ran /install/upgrade.php and went through the steps, which ran fine.

However, when I go to my site, I get the error:

That action could not be completed. Please try again, and if this occurs again please contact the system administrator and tell them how you got this message.

And inside of core/admincp, it appears that it's a fresh install with no past data (no forums, users, etc.). The database appears to be in tact with the forum data as per phpMyAdmin though...

Any ideas?

It's acting like I ran a new install, although I did run the upgrade.php... (browser history says so). But I also remember it prompting me to create an Administrator account, which is odd...

Fixed it after 10 hours.

Ok...would be appreciated if you could let other users know what the issue was.

I'm not entirely sure as I had a programmer friend aid me... it ended up being a ton of different things, but what helped the most was restoring the database and then upgrading to v4 before upgrading to v5.

Ok...two stage upgrade can sometimes help.
Thanks for letting everyone know, it can be a big help if others run into the same issue.
