Any large forums running on vBulletin 5?

I mean, forums with 1 million posts or more. I would be interested to see if some large board owners have taken the plunge.

My reason for this question is because I have a large forum (1.7 million posts) currently running on vBulletin 4. I have purchased a vB5 licence but am a bit afraid to upgrade yet.

Yes, I know vbulletin.com is on vB5. I mean others.

Wow, this forum is slow these days. Long wait until anyone answers in threads. It didn't use to be this way.

The only one I've seen anywhere remotely close to 1M would be this site.

I haven't looked extensively through this list, but after spidering the top 5,000,000 or so websites, these are the ones that were running vBulletin 5 (or it's framework) on the main domain. So might be worth looking through them manually if you want to try and find some large ones.

      Code:
      mysql> SELECT domain, value AS version, DATE_FORMAT(FROM_UNIXTIME(date), '%M %e, %Y') AS last_seen FROM misc_data WHERE name = 'vbulletin_version' AND value LIKE '5%' ORDER BY date DESC;
      +-----------------------------+---------+---------------+
      | domain | version | last_seen |

So you mean to say there are only 47 sites among the top 5 million on vBulletin 5?!

For sites running vB5 (or it's framework) on the root of their domain, yes... It doesn't include sites that run it in a sub-directory (unless the root redirects there).

Neither is the future of vBulletin.

This forum is small, but has customized vBulletin 5 very nicely:

Anyone noticing a trend? Sites install vBulletin 5, and before too long, a large percent soon no longer have vBulletin installed? I came back to this thread because I wanted to check out sukagwe.com, since they did a good job customizing vB5... vB5 gone now. Boo!

Wayback machine shows it changed sometime between August 7 and August 9... http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://sukagwe.com/

I got NightClubCity running with 2M posts. It has not been an easy move. There's been a huge downfall in traffic and a lot of downtime. It's completely changed the UX. I'm still troubleshooting ways to optimize the site because with vB5 it runs way too slow.

But despite all that, your site looks very nice!

Navigating to http://nightclubcity.com/forums/ often gives me the following error in the latest version of Firefox: There is a serious error and the page cannot be rendered
                      .

As an aside, comparing the 2 sites sukagwe.com and http://nightclubcity.com/forums/ there are some very significant details... One of them looks and feels a whole lot better than the other one...

vBulletin should abandon vB5 and keep working on vB4. My favorite is vB 3.8, vB 4 is OK, but vB 5 is a big no no. Unfortunately I don't like any other forum software, I'll stay on vBulletin 3 or 4 for as long as I could.
