I'm wondering if there is any way to get a user's IP address included in the "reported post" posts/emails? I don't see the option anywhere obvious, but I thought I'd at least ask. Thanks in advance, even if the answer is "nope". :-)
IP address in reported posts. Possible?

This isn't captured by default...it would require custom code.MARK.B

That's kind of what I thought. Thanks for responding. Now I know.Comment

I'm curious how thats of much use, since you have the user, you can probably just look their IP address up.
Of course, if you have the system set to create a thread for reports, then the IP will be collected for the thread (post).Baby, I was born this wayComment

I do have the system set to create a thread on reports...but the IP doesn't come through on that. If someone reports a post (spam) it goes to the forum moderators who do the deleting and blocking if necessary...and we track user ID, email, and IP address so we can track repeat offenders (new name, same IP, etc). Yes, we can go click a few links and get the IP address, but it would just be easier on everyone if the IP address was included in the initial report. We're just basically being lazy and looking for shortcuts if possible. :-)Comment

You don't really want to be blocking masses of IPs at the vBulletin level, for a variety of reasons.
yiu shouldnt block an IP just because it happens to have been used by a spammer. It's bit like closing a road because someone drove a stolen car down it....
if you REALLY need to block loads of IPs, this should be done at server level.MARK.B

I appreciate your opinion Mark, but I know what works best for our set of forums. I block spammer IP addresses when a user continually creates new IDs using the same IP address. In our case, that is the best way to handle them.Comment

As Paul says, blocking large numbers of IPs at the vBulletin level will impact server load and thus performance.
You're free to ignore this advice, of course, but it is absolutely not an opinion.MARK.B

Fortunately, it's not a large number. We're not noticing any performance impact with the way we're currently handling in on our installations.Comment
