    Help!

    When I try to go to domain.com/install/install.php for the instillation of vBulletion 4.2.2 I get this error message.

    mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
    /home/content/69/11328869/html/forums/includes/class_core.php on line 317

    Any ideas? If so PLEASE COMMENT.
    Regards,

    What hosting do you have shared or VPS?

        Ouch, you will need to contact GD about that, the error usually means the mysql server is down and needs restarted.

            The general consensus for that error is that the mysql server is not running and needs restarted, unless you have root access only your host can help you with that.

              Are you sure that your config.php file has the correct details?

              vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

                Can't connect to local MySQL server means just that.....the MySQL server is not responding.

                You'll need to speak to GoDaddy.

                As an aside, GoDaddy are nto generally seen as a very good host for vBulletin, unless you're on a VPS, so you may continue to have problems like this.

                  99% of the time for GoDaddy, who is a terrible host btw, their MySQL servers are not local. They're remote. Make sure you have the correct MySQL server name/address filled in and that it is not localhost.
