    Warning

I have just installed my vb 4 forum only after a while without it and all seems to be working except when I visit "my profile" I get this line at the top of the page Warning: Illegal string offset 'name' in [path]/includes/functions.php on line 6988 I have tried reuploading files in binary but still the same?

You can disable display_errors in php.ini

Its coming from one of your hacks/addons.

That would be the issue, vbulletin 3/4 series is not compatible with php 5.4.x

You will also have other issues besides that.

Thanks for that info, I rolled the php back to version 5.3X and run the upgrade script and it's working fine now.

Seems pretty pointless to bring out a new version of anything if it's not compatible with software designed for earlier versions

Vbulletin has dropped the ball on this issue, its been posted about numerous times, its been out long enough for them to fix the issues, but vb5 has been on the top of the list for now, supposedly it will be fixed in 4.2.1, no official release date on that though.
