I went ahead and used YAHOO.util.Event.addListener(window,"beforeunload",this.exit_prompt,this,false

So just to confirm, you guys are using a forum component url?
Can I recommend that you just stop? The feature does not work right. It is far easier to just put your vB install in the place where you want the forums to be, and move the cms/blogs.Comment

AdminCP > Settings > Options > Site Name / URL / Contact Details
The forum component url should be left completely blank.Comment

When would an admin need to use this feature? For example if they have a website and the forums are just part of it?Comment

When they don't want the forum to be in the forum directory... yea it doesn't make sense to me either.Comment

I'm guess there's still no fix to this? I have to either deal with the popup or disable quick reply all together or get rid of my editor abilities to have quick reply (how is vbulletin.com not having this issue...I'm using the quickreply on here)? I hope there is a fix, not happy with this....

NVM, this solution works: {YAHOO.util.Event.addListener(window,"beforeunload",this.exit_prompt,this,false)}};Comment

Ok, on my site, users sometimes get the warning about leaving the page, when the click "post quick reply." Reading through this thread, I'm confused on what can/should be done about this.
There seems to be two suggestions.
1. Zachery's change to the headinclude template.
2. Modify this Yahoo.util.event..... entry and change "true" to "false"
Now, I actually think this feature is a good one overall, as I have lost relatively long posts when I carelessly hit the back button or clicked a link, rather than right clicking and opening in a new tab/window. So, what exactly do those two options do? Do either of them get rid of the false warnings, but leave the general functionality. Or, do one/both simply disable the warnings period?
ThanksComment

For anyone having the problem currently, please open a ticket with my attention so I can try to figure out what is wrong.
Disabling the warning just disables the warning. It still auto-saves. But you'd lose some of your content possibly if the auto-save hadn't triggered.Comment

This is occurring on my site, but we aren't using the Forum Component URL setting (I tried to once...and well...it wasn't pretty). Is there any information in particular that you'd want on such a ticket?Comment

I did a little more research on this. Currently the problem affects my main board, but does not show up on the test board (making it difficult for me to narrow down in an environment that doesn't affect my members). I changed the test board configuration file to point to the main board and disabled hooks in the config file (the test board didn't work at all otherwise). Doing a Quick Reply to a test thread caused the issue on the test board in these circumstances, so it leads me to believe the problem stems from something with the database server.Comment

So why haven't you opened a ticket yet with my attention and an ftp/admincp login?👍 1Comment
