Oh yer... that was absolutely the best thing I ever did years ago. The moment I learnt about it, I had mine installed in less than 24hrs... very few issues with spam nowadays with excellent server security.
SO how about recommending one that a user could install on a WINDOWS IIS web server rather then a linux one.
edit: Ugh, don't like these new smilies VB team picked/made, it's all blurry, on x1080 high resolution you can't make out that it's a winking smiley because they blurred the edges so much it just looks like a normal smiley.
Found this via google, really useful for merging together these lists: http://alphabetizer.flap.tv/ - it puts them in alphabetical order and removes duplicates (if selected on left) so you can just copypaste lists end-to-end and get it all merged quickly
Updated my list with another gmail account (post #177)
Is there perhaps a database of phoney address against which a vbulletin forum can run the email address when registering? I reckon this could be like a centralized .sql table that vbulletin members can download from vbulletin and update as much as they like.
really good idea, something like the akismet/recaptcha integration. someone get the VB team to read this thread...
The Lists are good, but i started to use the vbStopForumSpam Product. You can find it at vbulletin.org
It blocks about 25-30 registrations a day on my site and i dont have to update all the time.
If someone makes it through, you can submit him manually.
Keeps the load of my server..
If you still like to use the list, you can download the spam domains and IP's from their website: http://www.stopforumspam.com/spamdomainsandips
Can you filter incomplete domains with wildcards, without needing to turn aggressive filtering on? like "viagra*" to fitler anything with viagra in it without needing to add a .com, or if I added this would it not actually block anything and instead look for a domain actually with a * in it?
Ok added bunch from all over the place and compiled together. Please note this is for AGGRESSIVE filtering mode, so if you add any more you need to be sure to add the @ unless you know the word won't be used by legit emails:
