    NAPSTER!

I can't believe I haven't done this before. I use it at home a lot, but never before here. I downloaded it and started downloading some of my favorite songs, and it has made the day fly by. Plus Barenaked Ladies and Jane's Addiction beats the pants of the classical **** that they play over the speakers here in the office .

Hey now, I happen to LIKE that classical ****!

It's too bad we have network admins here that block all multimedia files at the firewall though!

Bow to me, for I am root

It's good to be king (of the network)

One of the many benefits of telecommuting... You get to play whatever music you like.

yup.. they blocked it here at our university network as well... can get files of the net but just very sorry.. they just throttle multimedia files.

Does Napster use http or tunnelled http for transfer? Or some tcp hybrid?

Actually Napster uses a specific TCP port (I haven't used it so I don't know which one), but this port is usually blocked by most firewalls. I can use HTTP tunneling to access it though ( http://www.http-tunnel.com )
