Well IPB and vB are v smiler yes, but sometimes a bit to much.

Maybe there isn't one, code is by it's nature often going to be very similar and inspiration from other code is frequent and necessary. But it is considered very poor form to lift code and just change one or two lines to claim as your own. If it's from a competitor releasing the same product as you it's not only poor form it's just plain embarassing.

It's kind of a grey area really, software patents don't do many people any favours but neither does outright software banditry.

I do not see what is the point in starting a forum war, this is more of a business internal matter. These posting usually run mock and have no other reason to stay open, other then saying issue resolved.

Who is PIT? and how did you know about this and were you ever involved in developing IPB in any shape or form.

I am not aware of any clear similarities in PHP code. However there are many more similar pieces of code in the files I linked.

I'm not a coder myself but that does make sense. I would imagine that would also apply to many other aspects of web-based forum coding.

I doubt it, this is literally word for word, even the variable names are the same. The only thing that I see changed is where there are instances of "vB" that have been replaced with IPB
