phpBB goes all CSS / tablefree

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already, but it appears that the latest phpBB now comes in modern tableless form. Have a look at the source code of:

I would never switch to phpBB, but I sincerely hope that Jelsoft will introduce a tablefree vBulletin base design some time in near future.

I think it looks great. A big improvement over v2
Did you know http://www.phpbb.com/ has a PR of 9? That is crazy.

Looks nice. FYI, vBulletin can do it, except it would break the liquid style.

            Really does look nice.

Good for phpbb. Even though I use vb I've always been a phpbb fan.

It would not break the liquid style at all. Changing to a tableless layout has nothing to do with page width, since you can style the page however you want via CSS.

I think phpBB's style is great, and is definitely a big leap forward for bulletin board design. The rest of their site looks great as well, especially compared to Jelsoft's.

I hope we will see less use of tables in future versions of vbulletin... especially tables embedded within tables.

Looks great. Is this the Phpbb 3 beta? or is that with 2.0?

Well you are our resident CSS expert so I'll take your word for it. However I haven't see you taking Kier's CSS challenge yet, DP

I think there's another thread about Kier's challenge with Wayne Luke in it. I remember providing a re-written header/footer/forumhome that's completely tableless and semantic.

Looks ahelluva lot nicer then current phpbb2 installs.

                              Kinda looks very Invision-esque ....
