Image resize, resize images through forums, signatures and ect

Watermark for images, something as this mod http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showt...76#post1880076 but this one have one "bug" its displaying watermark over images on user profile(bacground image) which makes it look messy

User will be able do delete his account?

Widgets will have same options or similar as on vba, every widget will be collapsable?

First post is on top of every next page which brings better visibility, I just cant really understand why this option is not already default? Iam using this one at the moment http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=194832

Default option that will allow user upon registration to choose gender, place these users to two different usergroups, also postbit gender image, and so on

Hide links from guests, something as this but this one is kinda buggy, but still best outthere http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=123415

Just a suggestion from me,

it might help if we have an Old Thread Warning System, currently, throughout my licenses, all would benefit.

I propse a system whereby before a [quick] reply is made, the user is warned that the thread is quite old - I've just seen a thread being bumped from the year 2001, quite a change really, but here's something to look at if you can't comprehend the idea. (See attachment)

Some prefer that this is made as a system which can be turned off, or maybe a modification?

What do you think?

This is a humble and sincere suggestion to the vBteam if u r listening,

most of the vbulletin forum owners might not be tycoons to get license for above 100 bucks yearly, so plz take care so that the major release takes no lesser than 30 months and best if 36months or more,
I have heard next release is scheduled around in 18months, if that's the truth then its a hard game u r playing on the member's psychology, a member who wishes to run the latest released version has to go on pay even though he might be in a un-comfortable position at the time of pay

and other suggestion is, even when u r releasing such an offer (pre-sale) for members make it atleast 45-60 day prior notice for members so that small owners can accumulate cash needed rather than giving them less than a month short notices

I hope vB team listens to one of its old and probably loyal member

Hi all,

I'm wondering whether vB has considered creating an Impex importer from vB 3.x to 4.x? Before the quick replies, I do realise that it will be possible and simple just to upgrade from 3 to 4; but many of us have been using vB for many years, gradually upgrading, installing, using, removing Mods, etc. - many of which create database tables and data that, when the mod is removed, don't always get deleted. The result is that our databases are often far larger than the actual content they use. The same is true for files in the directory structure: many are 'left behind' after mod deletes, using up server space.

Which is why I wonder whether a 'clean upgrade', i.e. a fresh install with an impex to port over all posts and user data from 3.x, might be an option? The launch of 4.0 seems a reasonable time to clear out all the dross, since many mods will not work under 4.0, similar to skins.

Any thoughts?

I want a single page that controls all notification preferences. For example:

Admin Emails

User Emails

Threads you Subscribed To (open list in new window to toggle on/off)

Forums You Subscribed To (open list in new window to toggle on/off)

Social Groups

Blogs

Newsletter

Etc...

I can include a link to this page in my FAQs, Welcome Letter, Newsletter, and all outgoing emails. (P.S. Make a global footer template for all email messages!)

Unsubscribe Links That Don't Require Login
Let users stop following a thread or all threads by clicking on a link in the email notification.

Click Unsubscribe

Go to a page with three options: unsubscribe from this thread, unsubscribe from all threads, or view all Notification Preferences.

This would take a little more design on your part to easily handle all types of notifications, but I hope this conveys the essence of the request.

The way vB handles notifications is simply too complicated for grandma. We've done our best to provide good documentation and clearly worded emails, but there's only so much we can do with the current setup.

There is no special function to disable only the option Merge Posts for the moderator?

Because one moderator with this can delete all posts from BD even if "Can Physically Delete Posts" set to NO, because this way can merge post only to one and edit everthing to 111 ou something...

I only see one way to block this is set to NO "Can Manage Threads" but this way the mod can stick, etc...

There is any way to block only the function "Merge Posts"?

If one account of one of junior mods was hacked . The junior mod account could manage threads. The hacker merged all threads. There was no way to undo this.

That was the end of the forum.

This was my response to a closed discussion regarding vbSEO compatability in vb4.0. I stupidly wrote this response without realising that the freaking thread had been closed :)

Since I feel it is a very valid and very critical point, I thought I would post this as a suggestion in hopes that it will be considered for 4.0 inclusion.

Although this is not my area of expertise at all (preempting any 'corrections' on the technical aspects), I would hope that vB could provide functionality (or at least a hook of some sort) that would trigger on 404's so that the invalid link could be checked for a valid page, but in an incorrect format (i.e. regexp the URL to see if its an 'old format' SEF url). If indeed it is, then a 301 could be issued instead of the dreaded 404. I wouldn't think this would be terribly hard to do and would help prevent customers holding back from upgrading to vb4.0 for fear their existing links will all become invalid.

Many of us who have happily been using vbSEO for years will have hundreds or thousands of published vbSEO formatted links in posts, blogs, etc... Without some type of functionality similar to what is outlined above, any attempt to move from vbSEO will result in countless internal and external links becoming dead ones which would be insane for anyone to consider. It is also crazy to expect customers to cope with waiting for a free .org mod for this. While Search Friendly URLs aren't used on all sites, it is a significant enough number to warrant a default failover.

At long last we are nearing the time when vBulletin 4 will be completed and released. It is looking impressive and the new design is breath of fresh air. One thing I don't see in the list of features but feel would be extremely useful for us to build our communities is Facebook Connect (and perhaps Open ID).

I can speak from experience that when adding this functionality to your site it greatly increases the number of user registrations as it takes away the need for users to enter registration information and remember a password.

Facebook has published the API and there is even a mod on vbulletin.org for 3.x versions of vBulletin. This (Open ID would be nice too) needs to be included in vB4 as a default feature IMO. I sincerely hope that there is some consideration going on about this with the Jelsoft team.

A good example would also be JomSocial for Joomla, they have Facebook Connect integrated somewhat effectively but greatly enhanced by this third party plugin called Facebook Correct: (http://beta.dals.org/). This plugin allows the below options among others:

1. Prompt user to input a username and email address.
2. Redirect the user to a specified page after login completes.
3. Allows user to merge an existing account with their facebook connect account.
4. Imports admin selected profile info and avatar image from Facebook to their JomSocial profile.

Anyway, I hope that the Jelsoft team considers this as it would be a great benefit for those looking to grow their communities.

Somebody already requested a site wide tags for forums, cms, blogs, social groups, photos.

I'd do this as well and take this idea a step further as there's no real secondary categorization option for forums (prefixes are nice but far from perfect).
As the CMS now also includes tags I'd add the following features to tags site-wide:

Tag descriptions (it used widely in many professional CMS's and tag systems...think it as a category description)

Admin definable tag layout (I'm not sure yet how exactly the CMS will work...a particular tag could be a menu point and we could display related widgets to list the topics, blogs, photos, articles tagged with the same tag...)

Tag categories (so we can categorize them...for example motorcycle manufacturers, celebrity names or computer parts etc.)

These features would gave almost unlimited possibility/flexibility to the current system... :)
