please help with footer error

3.6.8 - Firefox - Cannot Write in Post Panel

This seems quite strange, only when using Firefox my users cannot write within a post panel - for example when writing a new Thread they can write in the Subject box but not the main text box.

Any ideas? I have minimal modifications to my forum.

User group questions

I need to introduce a new user group so that new members cannot user signatures until they have five posts and have been a member for at least a week.

I cannot change the default user group which is "Registered Users" so I presume that I need to rename this group to "Full Members" and create a new user group called "New Users" which does not allow signatures and then create a promotion that transfers them to "Full Members" once they have five posts AND have been a member for a week.

I have a couple of additional questions:

1) I currently have more than 20,000 "Registered Users". When I create the "New Users" user group and create the relevant promotion will all those members who do not have five posts and have not been registered for a week be automatically transferred out of "Full Members" and into "New Users"?

2) Hypothetically, lets say that a member's email address becomes invalid before they have five posts and they are manually transferred into the "Users Awaiting Email Confirmation" user group. Should they update their email address will they be automatically shifted back to "Full Members" or will it detect that they have less than five posts and move them instead (correctly) to "New Users"?

Any help would be very much appreciated! :)

My forum is region board, so i want add many new sub forums by region (like province-state-city), it created more than 1000 new sub forums (all have option No in "Show this Forum and Child Forums on the Forum Jump Menu" so there is not too much choiches in the Jump menu)

My server get problem after adding those more than 1000 new sub forums, sometime get high load and cant access the board (Load averages can be more than 100-200, normally only 1-2), so i need to restart the apache so can access the board again

I use dedicated server, default memory_limit are 32M, i already try to increase it to 256M but still get high load

so my question : can't vbulletin have unlimited forums/subforums and still running normal (like 1000 sub forums above)? like having unlimited thread and post

please help guys share your knowledge, is there a board with more than 1000 forums/subforums using vbulletin out there...

Nb.1. After i removed again those 1000 new sub forums, my board got back normal again, never get high load again

'Who's Online' Showing Everyone Viewing Index Page

I changed no settings on my vB3.6 and about 2 weeks all users when I look at the 'Who's Online' page are showing up viewing the index page - previously everyone was showing up as viewing a different thread.

I was not that concerned about it, but now a thread has been started and contributed to by a few voyeuristic members how like looking at this page to see what everyone os up to - they complaining about it.

Does anyone have any idea re this problem or where I can start looking for a potential solution.

Menu dropdowns stop working in multiple-page threads

Hi all. Kind of a weird problem here. In one of my forum styles, to which I've added my own dropdown menu system, everything seems to work fine ... except when threads get longer than a single page. Once that happens, the vb_control popups no longer work and I get a javascript error of some kind.

Sample single-page thread where all vb menus work.

Sample multi-page thread where vb menus don't work.

It's probably a conflict of some kind with the menu script I'm using (although this is a very well-put-together script; it's from ProjectSeven), or a template gitch, but I can't figure out why going to multiple pages should cause an issue. What script changes occur when a thread grows longer than a page?

Any ideas? I'd really appreciate if anyone could nudge me in the right direction! Thanks. :)

Pruning Threads

Hi guys, yesterday in an effort to cut down my database i decided to delete some of the older posts from my BB, anyway the page under admincp timed out after say about an hour, and i thought maybe ill do them bit by bit, but ever since slowly my server load has been increasing, it was at 100+ at one stage ! do you think the command to prune is still running in mysql (im assuming this is how the threads are pruned) that's causing the server loads to sky rocket, what do you guys think

Here are some examples:

I add a forum, thread, post, etc - I then go back to the main forum page it does not show up, I go to the actual forum it does not show up, I go the actual thread/post (after supplement post) and nothing shows up.

For each step above I have to refresh the page for it to show up - what have I done wrong - I have tried in both IE and FF with the same results.

Is there a way to copy a group of threads, say an entire subforum or marked threads and export them to a flat file or something?

The text itself, is that in the SQL database or stored in a subdirectory somehow/where?

I'm paying someone to move my 3.6.4 version to a new server so that I can upgrade it to version 4....this is becuase of the PHP and MySQL requirements.

The new server is running PHP 5 and MySQL 4.....

The old server is not.....so thus the move...

OK...so now everything from my 3.6.4 has been moved to the new server.....and now I want to test....so I'm accessing via the IP address because the site is not live and the DNS has not been moved.

I go to the site I see my VB CLOSED MESSAGE!!!!

So I try to get to my ADMIN CP to log in..

I put in the URL to the ADMIN CP...and I get the log in page.

I put in my username and password and it say welcome back Kirk Voclain and you are going to be re-directed.

It does and then I get re-directed BACK to the ADMIN LOG IN PAGE with no username and password.....

I put it in again and now I get this database error message:

This is because mysql 5 doesn�t allow a join using comma anymore. It can be fixed by modifiyng
�FROM subscriptionlog AS subscriptionlog, subscription AS subscription� to
�FROM subscriptionlog AS subscriptionlog JOIN subscription AS subscription�.

So...I just go to the HOME PAGE...and try to log in there....put in my username and password and it's trying to send me back to the ACTIVE URL...not the IP URL.....could this be why I'm getting the above message?

I'm dead in the water here......because now the SiTE MOVERS are saying they think that the 3.6.4 version of VB is not compatable with the upgraded PHP and MySQL and want to do the upgrade with out testing and getting this thing working first.

WHAT DO YA'LL RECCOMEND?????

HELP...I'm trying like crazy to get this working again and the clock is ticking!!!!

Cron Jobs - some tasks running, some not

Hi Guys,

The table session is filling periodically causing my forum to go down. I have to manually empty it each time this happens.

After checking the scheduled tasks I can see that all crons are indicated to be active and running, but when I check the log some of them haven't run for at least the past month or longer.

The crons running (according to the log) are the birthday email, user promotions, paid subscriptions, daily and weekly digest, and activation reminder email.

This would indicate that the Hourly Cleanup, Hourly Cleanup #2, Daily Cleanup and possibly other crons are not running automatically.

I am wondering if anyone is having a similar problem or knows a fix for this?

- the $cronimage is intact in the footer and the forum is always active to trigger it (some scheduled tasks are working fine, so I presume the $cronimage trigger is not the issue)
- we are using PHP5

I just install and ran vbseo sitemap generator. Then i found my forum no longer can upload attachments. The "Manage Attachment" window will appear just fine. It is only after a file is selected, click on "upload", an error message appears.

Error message: ["vBulletin Message: Invalid Post specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"]

I have no clue what when wrong. Anyone have the slightest idea? thank you in advance

Is there any way to change the # of posts that are displayed per screen for different forums or do I have to use the same # for all forums?

Some of my forums are picture-oriented, so I only want 5 posts shown per page since each post can be very long. But in my discussion-oriented forums, I'd like to have 10 or 20 posts shown per screen.

Is this possible?

timezone problem?

I'm trying to fix the time in the forum after my vps server was offline. I went to my WHM in cpanel and changed the timezone but the time does not change in the forums. I go into ACP and change the timezone there and the time does not change in the forum either.

Can someone tell me how I can fix this problem?

I've read this thread about forbidden errors etc. but before I do anything I would like a little advice please.

Myself and my members have received various Forbidden messages over the last week but if we go back and try again we always get through to the page we want.

Do you think this is a different type of problem to what is described in the above mentioned thread?

I have attached a couple of screen shots to show the messages I have received, one was even within the admin panel.

Any help appreciated - many thanks in advance :)

MySQL Version 5.0.77
It is necessary for us to place messages 100 000 � 200 000 by length.
Now by setting any length of Message � 0, 100 000, 200 000 and putting a large text we get a blank message (no text, just a caption) without �error� report.
Max. size of Message is about 23 000 symbols.
