<br />
I'd like to use the CMS for the front page...and obviously...keep the /forums directory for the forums.<br />
<br />
However, I don't see an option for this in the admin cp. The install needs to be in the /forums directory apparently. Do I have to change my entire site structure? Or is there an easier to to have the CMS in the root and the forums in the /forums directory?</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Sorry, this isn't really a pre-sale question, but I don't know where else to post this. One of my friends runs a site using vBulletin, and with his current cash state, I don't think he could afford vB so I am thinking he is using a nulled copy. Before I report him, could I ask what you do when you find out someone is using a nulled copy? Do you just ask them to remove it and then if they don't, take legal action? I just don't want my friend to get into trouble.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Hello everyone,<br />
<br />
I've been doing a fansite for a game for about a year and a half now, and my site is finally getting pretty big (about 8000-9000 people visiting each day). I'm finally getting enough ad money to support my hosting costs and have a little leftover, and I've been thinking about using that extra cash towards upgrading the site to use something with a bit more compatibility and support for what I want to do.<br />
<br />
Here is how my site is set up right now: My news page runs on wordpress, as does my media gallery (which currently only includes pictures), and is connected via WP-United to phpbb3 (for cross posting and a shared theme). I have a drupal installation set up to allow my site members to share mod files for a game (Torchlight, if you are interested). I have several mediawiki installations set up to support multiple languages, although English is mainly the only one that gets regular updates.<br />
<br />
My original intent was to try to have a system set up where members could just have a single login that allows them to access the forums, drupal, and the wikis. Unfortunately, all of the various integration modules have a lot of problems, and I ended up having to break apart everything other than the wordpress-phpbb3 connection (which is only enabled for cross-posting for staff members). I had problems with user information and passwords either not syncing or being unable to be changed, complete and utter caching failures, plugin and forum mod conflicts, RSS feeds breaking, and a lot more. I'm at a good point to consider something a bit more advanced that is actually made to work together and has reliable support, which has brought me to look at vbulletin.<br />
<br />
I'm having trouble figuring out how to phrase my questions. I'll just list them and then give an explanation:<ol style="list-style-type: decimal"><li>Is it possible to import JUST the names and passwords of users from phpbb3, mediawiki, and drupal6 into one combined vbulletin database?</li>
<li>Can I import all of my wordpress posts and phpbb3 posts and forums into vbulletin? (Preferably, keeping the names of the posters attached to the correct account)</li>
<li>Is there any kind of mediawiki replacement available for vbulletin? If so, does it allow imports from mediawiki?</li>
<li>Is it possible to maintain a joint user database between drupal and vbulletin? (I can't alter the drupal installation because of the way its file sharing database is set up)</li>
<li>Can I use vBulletin to create a media gallery that has pictures, movies, audio and their associated viewers with vbulletin, AND only allow staff members to add content to that section?</li>
</ol><br />
My first question is particularly important, because I originally went from SMF to phpbb3, and in doing so I caused problems with how the database was set up, forever requiring a special verification file to be included in my phpbb installation. If necessary I am willing to sacrifice my current forums, only importing usernames from drupal and mediawiki, if I can somehow import all of the old phpbb3 posts into a locked archived forum where all of the original posters are simply listed as guests or something.<br />
<br />
I'm hoping to simplify things by switching to a single can-do-everything software so that I don't have to deal with the hassle of multiple theme maintenance, multiple registrations for a single site, and other conflicts. I'm also hoping that by unifying everything I can cut down on system resources, since I won't need multiple installations of everything running all at the same time.<br />
<br />
Any answers or advice is appreciated.<br />
<br />
<b>(Oh, and just so you know, it says I can add 5 tags underneath my post, but if I try to do more than 2 tags it tells me I am over the limit. Bug/typo?)</b></div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Hello.<br />
<br />
I've just downloaded both the vB4 forums beta and the CMS beta from the downloads section. Can't seem to work out how to install them both for testing purposes? <br />
<br />
I would like to install them both fresh, unlinked to our current forums (3.8) so I can check out the features!<br />
<br />
How exactly is the directory structured taking the CMS into account? Do you just install them all under the one directory (so /forums for example) or are you supposed to install the CMS at the root or something with the forums in a sub-directory?<br />
<br />
Thanks in advance.<br />
<br />
[EDIT] OK, I have installed the forums. Now I just need to install the CMS beta. <br />
<br />
Cheers.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Hi,<br />
<br />
I currently use a static html page as my starting page, and it is well optimized for certain keywords and ranks very well in Google.<br />
<br />
If I used the vBulletin publishing suite it is possible that administering my site would be easier but the seo is pretty vital.<br />
<br />
Will the start page be bloated by lots of code?<br />
<br />
Will it be possible to use different tags like h1, h2 for certain headings?<br />
<br />
Will it be possible to change the header title of the home page to whatever I want?<br />
<br />
Is it possible to continue to use a static html page as thestart url but to import the list of articles, new forum topics e.t.c. to that html page? I.e. be able to fully customize the home page and import the important features..<br />
<br />
Will there be any advertising module included in the cms or will I have to edit code to for example automatically publish ads after the first paragraph in an article/forum topic/blog post?</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Hi, I am interested in the full vbulletin CMS suite but only want to use the forums and member blogs not the CMS part. Is it possible to have the forums default as the homepage for the site, and maybe make the CMS part just another secondary or third tab? Can we choose what we want as the &quot;homepage&quot;?<br />
<br />
Also, if we use the beta on a current live site, will we be able to easily upgrade it to the full stable version automatically? Or will we have to do some custom programming, change databases etc.? If we use the old version of vbulletin and the blogs how easy will an upgrade be to 4.0?</div>

With that said, I am having a heck of a time getting the install of 4.0beta to work properly. Sometimes the install wont complete at step 9 of alpha1, once I got that taken care of it completed, and I am getting php function errors. <br />
<br />
Would the install fee actually cover the upgrade, or only a new, clean install?</div>

<br />
e.g. <br />
Groups -&gt; League -&gt; USA<br />
Groups -&gt; League -&gt; Europe<br />
<br />
Also, is there a way to create sub forums inside groups? Let's say every time a group gets created, these three forums get created automatically:<br />
<br />
e.g.<br />
Announcements<br />
General Discussion<br />
Classified Ads<br />
<br />
ETA: Oh one more thing, is it possible to merge groups?<br />

Thanks.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>First, to get what's so ****ed here, let me tell you the situation with the licenses. I originally had my first vBulletin license registered to a site called MTGDarkness.com. Then, I left MTGDarkness.com due to various staff issues and my friend who helped me run the site bought another license because I wanted to take my license with me. Trouble ensued, and for some stupid reason (missing data, probably?) He couldn't transfer his license in. So he gave me the license he has to work with for the new site; still registered under his name and his data. <br />
<br />
Now, the 4.0 change comes around, and I say to him, &quot;I'm going to send you money, you get the suite upgrade while it's still in the $160 range&quot;. Most of this worked without a hitch until... well, let's just say there was a little mixup about what cost 160 bucks, how much I sent him, and what &quot;suite&quot; means. Now he has two forum licenses, and no suite licenses. This mixup is pretty bad news. <br />
<br />
Basically, I need someone from sales to step in and help us deal with this. I can get this guy to confirm however necessary, but the goal is to cancel the license he got and instead get an upgrade to the existing one he has (to suite). I really would love some help on this, because it's 160 bucks out of my pocket.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>I run a site at <a href="http://www.lawstudents.ca" target="_blank">www.lawstudents.ca</a>. Forums are currently phpbb, and I use openx to serve google adsense mixed with direct sale ads.<br />
<br />
Typically, people will buy a banner advertisment and have their ads show forum wide. This has been fine for the most part, except now some advertisers want to buy ad space only in certain subforums. One example would be that we have a buy/sell subforum, and an advertiser wants their ads to only show there and never anywhere else. Right now, I have ads being served from overall_header.html (not sure if vbulletin has an equivalent) and it doesnt seem like i can restrict based on subforums. That is, the ad invocation code is put into a static element that appears everywhere, not just in specific subforums. Openx sees the forums as one page. <br />
<br />
Does anyone know if vbulletin 3.8 or 4 has any built in ad functionality, and would work with openx to enable this sort of specific banner requirement? We are considering moving to vbulletin, and this will be a huge feature if it is possible.<br />
<br />
Thanks.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>I am thinking about using vbulletin on my website. I am currently using PHPBB3. The reason I like vbulletin is the integrated social networking and blog features. We've been thinking about designing something like this, but it looks like vbulletin already has a lot of the features we are looking for.<br />
<br />
-I gather that a user can create albums and post images in their profile. My users will post screenshots of projects they are working on. I doubt this is supported, but it would be really nice if a gallery page could be created, where all users' images were displayed. Other users could rate the images, and they could be sorted by most recent or by highest rating, like this:<br />
<a href="http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com/?m=gallery" target="_blank">http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com/?m=gallery</a><br />
<br />
-Can users upload files they make available on their profile? My users would like to upload scripts, 3D models, and other files to share with other users. They will want this accessible from their profile, not lost in the forum somewhere.<br />
<br />
-How do groups/projects work? Can members post images files on the project site to share with each other? Can projects be private? If my users could collaberate in private community projects, this would be very useful. I looked at some group pages, and they seem pretty bare...just a name, image, URL, and discussions. It would be useful if the group author could upload some files, so then a group member logs in to &quot;The Leadwerks Community MMO Game&quot; they could download all needed files from the group page and view screenshots of the project.<br />
<br />
-Is there any way to allow users to access certain files I upload? So they can log into their account and download products they have ordered? And I could create groups of users who have ordered certain products, and allow access to the relevant files?<br />
<br />
-What are articles? Can any user write and edit articles, or is it just for designing websites?<br />
<br />
-It would be nice if I could replace MediaWiki with an integrated collaberative authoring system. Then the forum, profiles, blogs, and online documentation would all be linked together. Even if it didn't have all the features of MediaWiki I would be very much in favor of this.<br />
<br />
-I think there is a new version coming out soon. When will this be available? Should I buy now and upgrade, or wait for the new version?<br />
<br />
Right now my users have a login for the forum, a login to download products they have ordered, and a login for the wiki. It would be nice if we could consolidate this, and I think it would also lead to a greater feeling of community, which is very important for my product. A few people have their various blogs and sites where they host files, but if we could bring everybody together it would really encourage collaberation.<br />
<br />
Thanks for your help.</div>
