I do not recall the internet beening around 40 years ago or even vBulletin... Must of slept through that revolution...

Those are users who have enabled the "Use Invisible Mode" in UserCP (Edit Options).

The date signifies the birth of time keeping for computers and just means that the date is actually empty.

I think it should display nothing if the date is not defined.

But better it has to display the words like "Not set".

Clearly it is, never should it display a date in 1969 (or 1970 depending on your timezone).
