Adding a banned word does not stop it if already used
You can block specific words being used in tags:Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Tagging Options -> Thread Tag Banned Words
HOWEVER...
If the TAG word was already added as a tag for a thread, it still shows up in the list and thus can only be blocked from being added to new threads. If it was added to the censor list, it should be blocked from being seen even if already used.
Second issue...
This was discovered when members started putting their user name in the TAG filed. This should NOT be allowed. When the thread TAG is added or edited, the words should be checked to be sure the thread starters USER NAME is not included as one of them. When discovered, we added a user name to the censor list only to find it still shows up in TAG Search, thus the noted bug above.
Side note...So it is not misunderstood, it would be only the POSTING member name that gets checked...Not the entire membership list. TAG words can only be added when the thread is started and such you can check the user ID to see if it is used as a TAG word. It can also be checked when the TAG words are edited as only thread starter or mods can edit it after. Thus again checking to see if the thread starters user name is in the list of TAG words.
