Need .htaccess help - quick!

Hey-

I want to make sure that I did my .htaccess file correctly, so I was going to try blocking my IP#, and seeing if I was still able to access the forums directory.

But if it works, will I still be able to FTP in to change it so it doesn't ban my IP?

I was still able to FTP in and change it back (thank heavens ;))

Only the web server (Apache, etc) follows the .htaccess. The FTPD knows nothing about it as you found out.

If I had thought about it, I would have realized that, but I needed to head a "spam-fest" off at the pass, and was rushing.
