It is becoming a bit unwieldy to keep track of the many suggestions users are making. Can I suggest a new temporary forum here or at vB.org (yes, a less-moderator or only admin-moderated) forum so people can submit individual threads for their suggestions, rather than a thread with around 200 replies in which most people view it linearly and do not use the Quick Reply in a matter that promotes Threaded Mode (myself included :o)?

Second, having trouble tracking down each comment made with more being added.

That thread will be closed today at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time so I can sort through it anc compare it with other threads posted at vBulletin.org. From there I will write up a concise document with a proposal and it will be reviewed between myself, other Jelsoft staff and the administrators at vBulletin.org. From there we will work on a compromise settlement (very much like in strike negotiations) to try and come up with a solution that is acceptable for all involved.

If the administrators of vBulletin.org wish to setup an area where people can voice their cares and concerns in this that would be a good step as well.

Now, I don't want to sound foolish, and I only visit vB.org for hacks (and I've only got one hack installed), but what has gone on over there? I saw another thread here that was locked, and I don't quite follow.

The biggest problem I have with how things are run is the idea that only one person can own an idea. There's more then one way to do things and people should be allowed to show their idea of how to do it even if someone else did the idea already. Believe it or not, but someone may like your idea and hate your code. Others shoud be allowed to present their code as well.

I don't mean rewrites of others code, I mean original code, same idea. And in some cases there is only one way to do something. If someone posts the same code as another, it's not always a rip off. That attitude is arrogant and narcissistic.

The discussion has been closed to new comments, so I would advise that this thread be closed.

Glad you don't moderate here. :)

So on that note...

Closed discussion after 48 hours with possibly 40K plus people with an interest in this is not what I'd call an open discussion. As you can see in this thread there are folks concerned and it's just coming to their attention that they can say something.

This should be open for discussion somewhere for at least a week. I hope we get an area for all interested to post to.

Please read the last post in the thread in question. I am simply reiterating it.

basically it was that their was no community spirit anymore, people felt the place was becoming tyranical and felt detached from the staff of the site and hackers in general, after the big discussion wayne has decided to step in and find the middle ground to make everyone as happy as possible. :)

Discussion will be open again on this hopefully by the end of the week. When a discussion starts endlessly repeating itself it gets nowhere. And in mediating large things such as this, time limits are always put on it. Anyone with further comments can feel free to forward them to me via the methods outlined in the last post of that thread.

Wayne, please see my PM (and if you have, let me know what you'd like me to do).

I didn't get a chance to say more than one tiny thing in that thread, yet I was preparing a huge post with replies to everyone... :(

You can forward me your ideas and suggestions there are no guarantees that they will be implemented.

I'm not expecting anything, but I feel that I have a not entirely unimportant opinion on the entire situation, and on top of that you asked the team of EverythingvB.com to respond, yet I was too late (making too big a post, thread got closed, me go *pout*) so you didn't yet have much EvB-input :)

I got to say, I find it funny, and sad at the same time this new theme of its mine mine mine going around in terms of hacks and such. Thats all great and all, and I respect those that make hacks, and appreciate the work. What is insane is that more and more "require" a credit copywrite and such. That trend keeps up, and you will have a forums that at the bottom has 89 lines of copywrite info.

Maybe I am old, but I miss the old days, when half of of us thought Eva was a chick, Ed was a god, and more importantly to me - the environment around vB back then led me from this guy who needed three websites, two books, and a cheat sheet to write a font tag, to a guy that can write just about anything I feel like now. I know their are few online that can match what I can do with DHTML and PHP combined today - and that all started from here. With out vBulletin, and with out those that where here in 2000 and their desire to help others learn what they heck was going on, I would still be sitting here with fifteen books trying to figure out why where this dang td tr table div href thing worked, would not even have a clue how to explode my flock to the usleep max. (ok, I still have no clue what I would accomplish by the last thought.)
