I want to build a website with vBulletin, osCommerce, maybe PostNuke and some other apps... all which require a user to register.

Is it possible (and has it been done before) for vBulletin to be installed using a different User table? Or even better yet, have other apps like osCommerce integrate with the vBulletin User table.

Single sign-on is a big issue, any advice/feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You might want to look into the OSCNuke project (not sure if that's the right name) but it is a hybrid of osCommerce and PHP Nuke.

If you go over to http://www.vbulletin.org and dig up some integration hacks for vBulletin and PHP-Nuke, you should get them to work nicely..

Note: I have a bit more faith in terms of security with vBulletin's registration system than osCommerce.

Best to ask at vBulletin.org.

Honestly, I have no preference where the user profile sits. The only thing that is important is the single sign-on.

PNphpBB is pretty well integrated into PostNuke, they already share the user table. vBulletin is clearly more robust, so if I could integrate vB and osCommerce, it would be well worth migrating my existing forum to vB.

In that same vein, I have plans to build an auction/classifieds commerce site which will also need to be integrated into the same user table.

I know, I know. One thing at a time. But the ability to intgrate a product like vB into other apps smells like a huge opportunity.

My reserach continues.
