400+ users = slow as hell

This is my configuration:
* Dual PIII 1Ghz , 2Gb memory , RAID5 scsi disc

I currently have over 400 users and it's just hella slow.

300 is not too much of a problem.

What settings/configurations in vBulletin can I turn on or off for better performance? I heard something about post cache, but what exactly is that and what does it do to the performance?

maybe a downgrade to pre vB3 will help? I remember all these speed issues popping up when I upgraded to vB3.

Might wanna have that info handy if your on a dedicated server.


You cannot go back once your at vB3 without losing any data before you went to vB3, and thats if you made a backup.
