Cluster of Servers

We currently have a P4 3.0Ghz w/ 1024mb RAM (upgrading to 2048 soon). We will need a new server in the future to handle the load.

What would be best?

i) Additional MySQL server
ii) A server cluster

Eventually, we will need more than 2 servers, perhaps 3, 4 or even 5.

Oh, any links or howto's on how I could go about spreading the load over 2 or more servers would be great please. We're at ServerMatrix btw.

I'd go with additional MySQL server, but you do realise this Server config forum is for vB related server questions and not IPB or any other forum software related ?

Yeah, I do run vB on this server too. I was just saying that I'll probably need a few servers eventually because of ipbfree.

We'd probably get an additional MySQL server. SCSI would be best, yeah? 2gig RAM with a 73gig drive?

It depends on what is your bottleneck. Serving or queries?

Serving from what I can see. I need to setup thttpd when I get the time to see if there are any noticable improvements.

scsi definitely if you hosting multiple forums which are always having mysql reading and writing from disk
