If you had to choose between these 2 dedicated servers, which one would you go with? (Assuming everything else is the same, 2Gig RAM, etc. etc.)
Single P4 2.8GHz with SCSI
or
Dual 2.4GHz with IDE
Typical forum use is 150 - 200 during normal hours. 250 - 300 when busy. Potential to grow by 100 to 200 additional users online within the next year or less. (Based on recent growth rate.) No other sites or content on the server other than my own.
Thanks!

Yes they do. Here is a 2400 AMDMP

Also that 2.8ghz server has SCSI and the dual system has IDE. I would almost say go for the single 2.8ghz SCSI system. That one is a tuff call.

Today, I found one person who just went with the same package and has a much larger forum than mine. (My online users are about 1/4 to 1/3 the size of his) With the Dual Xeon + IDE drive, some tweaks here and there, he is reporting back excellent server loads and fast forums until he gets around 1200 users online at one time. Then at that point, the IDE's start to bottleneck. I just went to his forum again, and he was showing 420+ online with a max ever online of 1557 (with vB RC3) and it is screaming!
I would say that is pretty darn good if you ask me. I believe he said that he is running 2Gig of RAM which is what I intend to do.

AMD does NOT have a 2.4ghz SMP. they do have a 2400 MODEL number, but it runs under 2Ghz. the 3200+ is actually running at around 2.2Ghz

sometimes for customers of web hosts there's confusing of what a web hosts offer i.e. AthlonMP 2400+ dual cpus so take it to me 2400mhz cpus while they aren't etc
