I moved from a 2.4Ghz Celeron to a 2.8Ghz Pentium 4 server recently. Most people would assume this would increase a site's speed, but it actually has not. Granted, the server hasn't crashed once since I've had it while the Celeron had often enough. But, overall it has been much slower with my members complaining about the "Server is too busy" error messages even though I raised the warning limit to 10 from 5 previously.

My site is of the adult nature so I will not be posting the URL. I have enough trouble banning the kiddies that come into the site. So I will just give you my stats for the community:

I've restarted MySQL which seems to have increased the site speed, but it's only a temporary solution. I've edited my my.cnf file, but what more can I do to optimize the mysql performance of my server to improve the overall stability of it?

Thank you for your time,

Perhaps this is better fit in the Server Configuration forum instead of this one.
