You know the old saying its all quiet before a storm? I'm getting that feeling as well....its been WAAAYYY too quiet on the Jelsoft front so I'm thinking we are jumping to RC4 or gold this week.
Unless Kier is cooking up another surprise for us...

Yeah! I think so too. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us :)
Will the site magicly appear with the new button set or total graphics or totally new layout? What will happen at the next 'refresh' of a page.

Exactly!
If there is nothing planned for this week, I really hope for a status update (if possible)

Its been very quiet, i was going to mention something myself.
I can't see there being an RC-4 release, i just think the developers are making absolutely sure all reported bugs are confirmed fixed, or can not be reproduced.
I have a feeling we will see gold this week sometime,, which day is anyones guess.

They are probably working supah hard on the documentation, guides, manuals, images and training their staff to be elite with the software top notch. Preparing to update their whole site and improve their press release and many of those other important additional things that come with such 'gold' status releases.
I won't be suprised if that takes them another month or so to complete.
(Doesn't mean I am still very excited about a possible release, because it IS quiet)

Im not sure if anyone noticed, but Kier did not even come onto the boards for about 1/2 of last week, and he has not actually written a post or made any comments for quite a while.
Hopefully this means he is working hard to iron out the bugs, or working on all the images?

Im thinking that to, the whole site has to be changed in one way or anthor for this gold release, im sure they are working hard on the members area improvments I remember reading about to.

... or it could mean he's on vacation. After all, it's good to take a few days off every once in a while and get a fresh new start.
No matter what, we all know something wonderfull is about to happen. Just a matter of days. ;)

I don't think Kier will design the redesign the entire vB site alone. I think others like Steve, Kevin, Martin are helping as well.

I really hope it's gold.. I think I'll be upgrading immediately after its out and I can fix a style for it. It'll be crucial to ensuring that I can keep a few members from leaving. I'll have to wow them with features. :\

The devs are probably pounding the code with security audits, logic checks and bug hunting. I expect an RC5, RC6, and RC7 (we had 7 Betas) before Gold. Getting Gold next would be nice but I'll take quality over a WinME.

If an RC5 release was planned, they wouldnt have released a patch for RC4 ;)

If an RC5 release was planned, they wouldnt have released a patch for RC4 ;)Well, I wouldn't say that... I mean, an exploit like this really should have a fix released for it almost immediately, especially since it was posted on SecurityFocus and not privately communicated to Jelsoft via email or whatever.
They may have just thought that "we are not ready to release RC5 now, but this fix needs to go out *now*".
*shrug* That's just the way I see it.

I also remember seeing one of the developers say something down the lines of RC4 being the last RC before gold...

Where can I find this post? I've never seen a post that says that RC4 is the definite last RC before Gold. I have seen one that said that if there aren't many bugs found in it, there won't be another RC or something along those lines however that does not mean the next vB3 release will be Gold.

to the best of my knowledge their will be one more rc which will be more of a spacer than anything else so the documentation can be given a touch of extra time before gold.

I doubt it. I've found several bugs in RC4 (I'm pounding this version more than its predecessors) so I expect an RC5.

You will find several bugs in the final (gold) eventually too. Its the name of the game.
Nothing is perfect and never will be, all that can be done is to make it as stable as possible, for all involved environments.
For some RC3 might be more stable than RC4, RC2 might be more stable than Gold for others etc... :)
RC1, 2, 3, 4 where all released within one - two weeks of eachother, it has been much longer than 2 weeks since RC4 was released.
Which usually is a very high indication, that no other release candidates are needed or wanted.
However only jelsoft can determine that.
