...would it be possible to get an option to have a permission setting automatically change if a certain condition was met ? I was thinking that if the number of concurrent users reached 25 or 30, perhaps 'guests' could temporarily not be allowed to view the boards until the number of concurrent users drops down to a lower level. Perhaps that could keep red flags from going up with people's accounts.

You can do that now with session limiting.

Thank you; I had not seen that before and just turned it on. Could there be a way to do it as I suggested though and just turn away 'guests'. I always seem to have a lot of lurkers on my boards whom I guess never bother to register or contribute. I'd rather them be turned away first as opposed to the registered users.

You could set the unregistered group to not be able to view the boards forceing them to register first.
