Seems a lot of people including me, including this site have problems with the attachment. How about the option of separating the process of attaching a file from the reply or posting section, like having a link to a new page that lets you upload a file.
Most sites that use attachments do it this way and I think there's a good reason, it helps to work with most browsers...
